Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s index of manufacturing and extractive industries, excluding crude oil and petroleum products, edged up 0.7% month-on-month in August to 122.25 from 121.43 points.
The index of ready-made clothing increased by 23.5% to 246.33 points last August, versus 199.49 points in July, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said in a statement on Tuesday.
Moreover, the metal manufacturing index increased by 9.1% month-on-month to 71.51 points in August from 65.54 points, the CAPMAS added.
On the other hand, the index of pharmaceuticals industry fell by 10.1% to 136.42 points in the eighth month of the year, compared to 151.76 points in the month before, the state-run agency highlighted.
Moreover, the index of electronics industry went down by 17% to 84.56 points in August, compared to 101.88 points in July, the agency said.
